About BuHu's research degree programmes Students study within the University's internationally recognised Research Institute for the Built and Human Environment (BuHu) - the number one built environment research institute in the UK. BuHu was ranked the highest grade in the UK's competitive research assessment benchmarking exercise in 1992, 1996 and 2001, the only built environment research institute in the UK to achieve this.
This assessment recognises excellence in training, developing, nurturing and encouraging newer researchers into research careers. MERIT offers three entry points per annum - January, April and October. Students receive extensive training in research under the supervision of the highly experienced Salford supervisory team, complemented by an external adviser, where applicable. BuHu offers a wide choice of research interests, leading- edge dedicated research suites, research training material, plus access to extensive library and other information support.
