Concord Law School - PhD Programs

Online PhD Programs Articles : Concord Law School - PhD Programs

Since opening in the fall of 1998, Concord Law School has pioneered the delivery of high quality legal education on the Internet. The school serves working professionals, family caretakers and others whose circumstances may prevent them from pursuing a legal education at a fixed facility law school.

The typical Concord student is in his or her mid-career with an undergraduate GPA of 3.0. More than 1,800 students are currently enrolled at Concord, including alumni of such prestigious universities as Columbia, Harvard, Yale, MIT, the University of California at Berkeley, Duke, and the University of Chicago.

More than one third of the students already hold advanced degrees. Students hail from all U.S. states and 13 other countries.

Concord Law School is the first institution to offer a Juris Doctor (JD) degree wholly online. With maximum flexibility and an engaging, interactive online learning program, Concord offers working adults the opportunity to earn a recognized law degree, regardless of their location and the demands on their daily lives.

Concord provides a rigorous and comprehensive legal education with a personalized curriculum and study program leading to a Juris Doctor (JD) degree or an Executive JDSM. Instruction is both highly theoretical and highly practical, emphasizing a critical understanding of how law functions in society, as well as a practical knowledge of how lawyers function within the legal system.

Concord is a division of Kaplan, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of The Washington Post Company.

Concord Online Law Degree Programs

Concord Law School - Online Law Degree Programs

Concord launched the first fully interactive, online law degree program in 1998. Since then, its online JD and EJDSM degree programs have served students from around the country, and the globe, who otherwise would not have been able to attend law school. If you are interested in continuing your education, and a law degree fits your career and personal goals, Concord’s online distance learning degree may well prove right for you.

Concord’s commitment as the pioneer online law school is to provide an accessible, affordable, part-time program that works for individuals with job and family responsibilities. Law school is challenging, and our online law degree programs, while flexible and supportive, are no different. Concord students choose between two online, distance-learning law degree programs:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) The Concord online JD degree is a four-year, part-time program. Its traditional curriculum is grounded in core bar courses, but Concord students often observe that our distinctive interactive online environment offers greater individual feedback and interaction than their previous brick-and-mortar graduate program experiences. Graduates of this online distance learning degree program will have met the legal education requirements of the Committee of Bar Examiners, State Bar of California, and may apply for admission to the State Bar of California.
  • Executive Juris DoctorSM (EJD) The online EJD program, pioneered by Concord Law School, is designed for individuals who have an interest in the law or whose careers would benefit from a legal education. It is a three-year, part-time program that provides a core of required courses, then offers students the freedom to choose a course of study tailored to their needs. EJD graduates use their online degree to advance their careers, expand their employment opportunities, or increase their personal knowledge without having to meet the regulatory requirements associated with becoming members of the bar.
