Online PhD Program Description: Capella University’s Human Services PhD program meets the high academic standards of doctoral study and provides a platform for rewarding personal accomplishment. Throughout the distance learning online PhD Human Services program, you will explore and utilize advanced theory and research, critical thinking, and principles of leadership. The Social and Community Services specialization, online distance learning PhD program, is designed for counselors or social workers who wish to teach, pursue advanced research, lead programs, or supervise clinicians. The online PhD program offers in-depth study of major community issues, social work issues, and methodology, which will help prepare you to assume a leadership role for social change at local, state, or national levels. Residency Requirements: As an online PhD doctoral learner at Capella University you will attend residential colloquia in addition to your online courses. Taken during specific milestones in your program, you will attend three colloquia, each one week in length. You may be eligible for transfer of up to 48 credits.

On Campus Requirement: 180 contact hours (60 hours or 1 week each year ).
