Online PhD Program Description: Capella University’s online PhD specializations in Education are consistently updated to ensure that our learners can meet modern challenges in education with today's best practices. The Training and Performance Improvement PhD specialization will help you combine practice with theory and advanced skills in critical thinking, research, and problem solving. The online Education PhD program will deepen your understanding of strategic and tactical issues that are critical to the success of performance improvement interventions. The training and performance improvement curriculum is based on the Human Performance Model developed by the American Society of Training and Development (ASTD). You may be eligible for transfer credits of up to 48 credits. Residency Requirements: As a distance learning doctoral learner you will attend residential colloquia in addition to your online courses. Taken during specific milestones in your program, you will attend three colloquia, each one week in length.

Online PhD Program Requirements: Applicants for distance learning PhD Education program at Capella University must have a Master's degree (or its foreign equivalent) from a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institution and a graduate GPA of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) or its equivalent from an international institution.

On Campus Requirement: Three one-week residential colloquium sessions, one per year for three years.
