Online Classics Ph.D. for Teachers

Online Doctorate Programs : Online Classics Ph.D. for Teachers

The Rogue Classicist reported on the first award of an online Ph.D. in Classics. The degree was awarded by the University of Florida. Here is some information from the website:

Teachers may enroll in our courses as non-degree-seeking or as degree-seeking (M.A. or Ph.D.) students. As noted, these distance courses may be combined with the University of Florida's two-week summer institutes in Latin (3-6 credits). The department estimates that students in these programs could reasonably expect to complete an M.A. in three years and a Ph.D. in five years. These degree programs are, again, designed specifically with the needs of elementary, secondary, and college teachers in mind. Geography and full-time employment need not preclude the intellectual (and other) rewards that advanced study can bring.
